We on our way up north cruising at 10 knots with 16 knots of wind on a port reach along the Californian coast. My thought of the day. How can you discover new things in life, if you never leave behind what you know?

What a trip the Mercedes-Benz guests had from LA to SF! Mike referred to it as being in a 'cocktail shaker' for 48 hours! Waves came from all directions making the trip a very uncomfortable one. What a pleasure for everybody onboard to finally arrive in San Francisco and see the golden glow of the sun rising over the Golden Gate bridge. See the comment below…
"Oh yeah, that was a pretty crazy trip on this giant Cocktail shaker! But I never felt safer and closer to nature. Thanks Michael, Tristan, Jacek – and of course Mercedes-Benz for offering us this amazing experience. Sailing underneath the Golden Gate Bridge during Sunrise was totally worth being sea sick for nearly 48 hours! :)"
What a great surprise for the team when 20 year old Soledad Escribano from Argentina pops in to the Mike Horn Center in Switzerland for a surprise visit. Soledad attended the Malaysia Selection Camp in Château-d'Oex in July 2009 and has always kept in touch since. Since participating in the Malaysia Selection Camp, Soledad has continued to act as a Pangaea Ambassador and participated in environmental projects back home. Thank you Soledad!!!
After each storm there is a calm. It is not during the calm periods of life that you learn a lot. The calm only gives you time to prepare yourself for the next storm and that is how you learn about yourself and others.
Have you ever been put into a cocktail shaker and been shaken for 34 hours. Well that is how we feel since we left LA, the short standing waves are now braking and the strong winds are creating white capped waves all around is. We are the only boat out here, because we can be out here in the rough weather. Pangaea has always brought us safely back to port.
It's rough out here today 55 knots on the nose, and breaking waves 10 feet high. Pangaea feels alive again after the 3 week rest in Los Angeles. Thanks to all the people in LA that made us feel at home. We had a great stay and will definitely come back!
Today Pangaea leaves the port of Marina Del Rey on her northwards journey to San Francisco. After a few days entertaining guests for Officine Panerai, Mike is now sailing with guests invited by Mercedes-Benz. It's a two day trip to San Francisco which gives the guests plenty of time to meet MIke, hear his stories and to understand his motivation and passion towards helping the youth and the planet.
We hoist the sails once again and are now heading towards San Francisco. We have a few guests onboard. This time they are invited by Mercedes-Benz. I hope conditions will be kind and they have a memorable trip. I'm looking forward to moving north again. Back to the ice with the best icebreaker ever!
Our time in Los Angeles is coming to an end!! Just a few more days at Marina Del Rey and then we start our trip northwards towards the Northwest Passage. Los Angeles is a fascinating place. The people here are friendly and motivated to help the planet. It's always sad to leave the places where we end up spending some time, but always exciting to know the next adventure is about to begin!
Back again! After a short stop over at Cabrillo Way Marina waiting for Mike to return from the expedition to the Magnetic North Pole, Pangaea has started her journey north! Not far this time! Just to Marina Del Rey where she will spend two days meeting and greeting the management, VIPs and customers from Officine Panerai. A pleasant few days has been scheduled before Pangaea pulls up anchor and heads north to San Francisco.
