30th of June 2008 PANGAEA'S stop-over in London After a few days in Hamburg, in the 3rd biggest commercial port of Europe, Pangaea left to London. Here she spent the weekend at St Katherine’s dock, close to the famous Tower Bridge and received a lot of interest from passers-by, who were curious to hear as much as they could about this amazing aluminum sailboat. Mike Horn made the most of this visit in London and invited a number of his colleagues from the ‘Laureus World Sports Awards Academy' on board. Amongst these were Boris Becker, Edwin Moses, Daley Thomson, Mr Rupert, the chairman of the Richemont Group, and his wife Mrs Gaynor Rupert, the god mother of Pangaea. Today, Mike Horn and his crew leave London for the extraordinary destination of Greenland. For the first time Pangaea will navigate in the icy waters of the Great North. Mike’s return to Europe will be scheduled in July when Pangaea returns once again to London and then to Lorient where work will be completed on the boat before she sets off on her four year expedition.

A dream that over the years has slowly but surely developed to become a reality. Many years ago Mike decided that when he was older he would like to travel the world and share its beauty with the younger generation... but to do this, he first of all needed the experience. Mike Horn started to set challenges for himself - swimming the rivers, sailing the oceans, surviving alone in the different environments and in different weather extremes, affronting all elements of nature and continually pushed both his physical and mental limits. Mike Horn has accomplished all of the goals that he set out for himself a long time ago and now he feels ready to share his experiences with others. Today, Mike Horn wants to leave a trace on society, not to become a name in the history books, but to be known to the world as somebody who has done something to create awareness in todays youth and who has made a small but noticeable mark towards helping the environment and the world in which we live in. Mike Horn calls his dream the 'Pangaea Expedition'. Through the help of caring supporters Mike Horn has been able to build a boat - a boat which can take young adults around the world, a boat that will be used as an educative platform, as a tool to clean-up the planet and a boat that can be used to communicate young adults visions and their environmental projects to the rest of the world.
Today the world is striving to find a solution...a solution for global warming and the creation of a sustainable future for the planet. The world and its elements are Mike Horn’s playground, his life blood and his passion. He too, would like to find a solution for this global problem. “Caring for our life source should be a priority to everyone that benefits from it. The problem today is that we are losing contact with nature, forgetting its beauty and most importantly, losing hope. We must now accept our responsabilities and by working together with hard work, ingenuity, drive and courage, we can complement each other and find new energy of hope and ambition. 30 juin 2008 Escale londonienne pour PANGAEA Après avoir passé quelques jours à Hambourg, dans le 3ème plus grand port commercial d’Europe, Pangaea a mis le cap sur Londres pour le week-end. Amarré au port St-Kathrin, proche du fameux Tower Bridge, Pangaea a suscité l’intérêt des nombreux passants, tous curieux d’en apprendre d’avantage sur cet impressionnant voilier en aluminium. Mike Horn a profité de cette escale dans la capitale anglaise pour inviter à bord ses collègues de l’Académie « Laureus World Sport », dont Boris Becker, Edwin Moses, Daley Thomson, M. Johann Rupert, Président du Groupe Richemont, et son épouse, Mme Gaynor Rupert, Marraine de Pangaea. Mike Horn et son équipe quittent Londres aujourd’hui pour une destination extraordinaire, le Groenland. Pour la première fois, Pangaea naviguera dans ses eaux de prédilection, les mers glacées du Grand Nord. Le retour de Pangaea et de Mike Horn en Europe sera programmé en juillet, avec une nouvelle escale à Londres puis à Lorient où des travaux et finitions à bord seront achevés. Bienvenue sur le site officiel de Mike Horn Le moment est maintenant venu de vous dévoiler la nouvelle expédition de Mike Horn : Pangaea. Mike Horn en rêvait depuis longtemps ! Un rêve qui tout au long des années, lentement mais sûrement, est devenu réalité. Depuis longtemps, Mike souhaitait voyager à travers le monde et faire découvrir la beauté de la planète aux jeunes générations… mais pour concrétiser son rêve, il lui fallait tout d’abord acquérir de l’expérience. Mike Horn a commencé à se lancer des défis: descendre des fleuves à la nage, traverser des océans à la voile, survivre dans différents environnements et différentes conditions climatiques, affronter tous les éléments de la nature et repousser en permanence ses limites physiques et mentales. Mike Horn a maintenant atteint tous les buts qu’il s’était fixés et se sent prêt à partager ses expériences avec les autres. Aujourd’hui, Mike Horn veut laisser une trace de son passage dans notre société. Non pas en ayant son nom dans les livres d’histoire, mais en étant reconnu comme quelqu’un qui a provoqué une prise de conscience chez les jeunes d’aujourd’hui. Il veut laisser une trace, petite mais non non-négligeable, en agissant pour la protection de l’environnement et le monde dans lequel nous vivons.
Mike Horn a baptisé son rêve "Pangaea". Grâce à l’aide importante de personnes qui le soutiennent, Mike Horn a pu construire un bateau qui emmènera des adolescents autour du monde, qui sera une plateforme éducative, un outil pour nettoyer la planète, un bateau qui permettra aux jeunes de transmettre au reste du monde leur vision de la planète et de présenter leurs projets environnementaux. La philosophie de Mike Horn Aujourd’hui le monde se bat pour trouver une solution aux problèmes environnementaux actuels, au réchauffement climatique et pour mettre en place des solutions durables.
La Terre et ses éléments sont le terrain de jeu de Mike Horn, sa raison de vivre, sa passion. Lui aussi aimerait trouver une solution à ce problème mondial. « Prendre soin des sources de vie dont nous profitons devrait être une priorité pour chacun de nous. Le problème aujourd’hui est que nous perdons le contact avec la nature, en oubliant sa beauté, et nous perdons ainsi espoir. Nous devons prendre nos responsabilités en travaillant ensemble, durement, intelligemment, courageusement et avec dynamisme. Nous devons nous compléter les uns les autres et ainsi trouver de nouveaux espoirs et de nouvelles ambitions. Ensemble nous pouvons sensibiliser la source d’énergie la plus puissante : la jeune génération. »

PANGAEA setzt seine Europareise fort!
17. Juni 2008 PANGAEA verlässt Lorient! Mike Horns Schiff ‘Pangaea’, eine umweltfreundliche 35 Meter lange und ozeantaugliche Yacht, hat auf seiner Roadshow einen Halt in Lorient eingelegt. Die Expedition wurde der Bevölkerung von Lorient anlässlich eines Vortrages vorgestellt. Zur Zeit ist die Pangaea auf dem Weg nach Hamburg. Mike sagte: “Ich war sehr erfreut darüber in Lorient sein zu dürfen und meine nächste Expedition ‘Pangaea’ vorzustellen. Ich wollte zeigen, wie ich meine Erfahrung mit zukünftigen Generationen teilen kann und ihnen den Ansporn geben Lösungen für ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis zwischen der Menschheit und der Natur zu suchen. Es ist das spannendste Vorhaben welches ich je unternommen habe. Es ist eine Schatzsuche, von welcher ich weiß, dass die Lösungen existieren.” Zur Bildergalerie
Willkommen auf der offiziellen Website von Mike Horn Wir sind nun bereit die neue Expedition Mike Horns bekannt zu geben. Pangaea, seit geraumer Zeit Mike Horns Traum! Ein Traum welcher über die Jahre hinweg langsam aber sicher eine Realität geworden ist. Vor vielen Jahre hatte Mike beschlossen, wenn er älter sei, werde er zusammen mit der jüngeren Generation die Welt bereisen, da er ihre Schönheit teilen möchte... Um dies jedoch zu verwirklichen, benötigte er zuerst die nötige Erfahrung. Mike Horn begann sich selbst Herausforderungen zu stellen –in Flüssen schwimmend, segelnd auf den Ozeanen, in unterschiedlichsten und extremen Gebieten und Wetterzonen überlebend, allen Elementen der Erde ausgesetzt und immer nahe an der physischen und mentalen Grenze. Mike Horn hat alle seine vorgenommenen Ziele erreicht und fühlt sich nun bereit seine Erfahrung mit anderen zu teilen. Heute will Mike Horn seine Spur in der Gesellschaft hinterlassen, nicht um einen Eintrag in die Geschichtsbücher zu erhalten, sondern um bekannt zu werden als jemand der etwas zur Wahrnehmung in der heutigen Jugend und ein kleines aber bemerkenswertes Zeichen in der Hilfe zugunsten der Umwelt beigetragen hat.
Mike Horn nennt seinen Traum die 'Pangaea Expedition'. Unter gütiger Mithilfe fürsorglicher Unterstützer war Mike Horn in der Lage ein Boot zu bauen – ein Boot um Jugendliche um die Welt zu fahren, ein Boot welches als erzieherische Plattform dienen soll, als Hilfsmittel zu Sanierungsprojekten der Erde und ein Boot welches benutzt werden kann um die Sicht der Jugendlichen und ihre Umweltanliegen dem Rest der Welt zu mitzuteilen. Mike Horns Philosophie Heute sucht die Welt ehrbitterlich nach einer Lösung... einer Lösung zur globalen Erwärmung und die Erschaffung einer unweltfreundlichen Zukunft für unseren Planeten. Die Welt und seine Bestandteile sind Mike Horns Spielwiese, sein Lebensblut und seine Leidenschaft. Auch er würde gerne eine Lösung zu diesen globalen Problemen finden. “Sorge tragen zu unseren Lebensquellen sollte eine Priorität für jeden sein, welcher von ihnen einen Nutzen zieht. Heutzutage liegt das Problem darin, dass wir den Kontakt mit der Natur verlieren, ihre Schönheit vergessen und vor allem die Hoffnung verlieren. Wir müssen nun unsere Verantwortung wahrnehmen und indem wir mit harter, scharfsinniger, dynamischer und mutiger Arbeit vorangehen, können wir uns gegenseitig ergänzen und neue Kräfte der Hoffnung und der Strebsamkeit finden.
Zusammen können wir das erschliessen, was die wichtigste und stärkste Energiequelle dieses Planeten ist: die jüngere Generation.”
